Syracuse Hydrofest 2010
Propellers for hydroplane boats are special. Some inboard hdroplane teams protect their designs by putting them on at the last minute before their boats are hoisted into the water. Many propellers in the pit area are covered. I found one in all its reflectiveness after I asked, of course. I promised to keep the boat's identity a secret.
A propeller is essentially a type of fan which transmits power by converting rotational motion into thrust for inboard hydroplanes. These highly tuned propellers are the surface penetrating type, where only the bottom half of the propeller diameter is in the water at racing speeds.
